Confronting the Challenges of Participatory Culture: Media Education for the 21st Century

Publications

Beyond in-person connections and in order to keep partners, collaborators and the general public more aware of NML, all NML researchers participate in the NML blog, designed to create greater transparency around the development of curricular materials and activities supporting the teaching of new media literacies.

Henry Jenkins continues to use his blog to discuss a range of media topics and research, including Project NML work, to a diverse audience of media practitioners, educators, academics, fans, and laypeople.

Both blogs were recognized on the August 2009 Best Blogs for New Media Students.

Published Articles
Work for Project NML has informed several recent publications targeting both the education and media literacy communities. We are also finishing two worked examples to be released in 2010. One is on the pilot study of the Teachers' Strategy Guide Reading in a Participatory Culture and the other is on the pilot study of the Learning Library's Media Makers Collection. Our goal is to have these published in an upcoming issue of the International Journal of Learning & Media.
